About Tipping on SpoonieFans
Tipping is one of the ways subscribers can show extra appreciation for creators whose content has genuinely helped, inspired, or supported them. We love that our community wants to give back to the people who share their stories so openly. Before you tip, please take a moment to read this short notice so you understand exactly what tipping is — and what it is not — on SpoonieFans.
1. SpoonieFans Is Not a Fundraising or Charitable Platform
SpoonieFans is a peer support and content subscription platform. We are not:
- A registered charity or nonprofit organization
- A medical fundraising platform (such as GoFundMe, GiveSendGo, or similar)
- A crowdfunding service for medical expenses, treatments, surgeries, or insurance costs
- A financial relief or emergency assistance service
Tips you send to creators are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible. They are voluntary payments to individual content creators in recognition of their work, similar to tipping a performer or service provider. Creators may use the funds however they choose.
2. Tips Are Voluntary and Final
- All tips are 100% voluntary. You are never required or obligated to tip a creator to access content you have already subscribed to.
- Tips are non-refundable except in cases of platform error, technical malfunction, or confirmed fraud.
- Once a tip is processed, it cannot be reversed because you changed your mind, regretted the amount, or felt differently about the content later.
- Disputed or charged-back tips may result in account suspension while we investigate.
3. Tip Within Your Means
We care deeply about the financial well-being of our community. Many SpoonieFans subscribers live with the same financial pressures as our creators — medical bills, reduced work capacity, insurance gaps, and the everyday cost of managing a chronic illness. Please keep the following in mind before tipping:
- Only tip what you can comfortably afford. Your rent, medication, food, and essential expenses come first — always.
- Avoid tipping during emotionally heightened moments — late-night flares, after distressing content, or in response to urgent-sounding language.
- Set a personal monthly tipping budget if you find yourself tipping more than you intended.
- Remember that engagement, kind comments, and sharing a creator's content are also meaningful forms of support — tipping is never the only way to help.
- A small tip is just as valuable as a large one. There is no "right amount."
💚 Need help? If you ever feel that your tipping habits are becoming unmanageable, you can review your tipping history in your account settings, set monthly tip limits, or reach out to community@spooniefans.com for support. We will not judge — we will help.
4. Tips Do Not Create Obligations
A tip is a one-time gesture of appreciation. It does not entitle you to:
- Personalized content, custom requests, or private services from the creator
- Direct messages, replies, or any specific response from the creator
- Access to additional content not included in your subscription
- Influence over a creator's content choices, opinions, or boundaries
Creators are encouraged — but never required — to thank tippers. Please do not pressure, demand, or guilt creators after tipping. Doing so violates our Community Guidelines and may result in account action.
5. Be Cautious About Urgent or Emotional Tip Requests
Most of our creators are honest, thoughtful, and grateful for any support they receive. Unfortunately, no online community is immune to bad actors. Please use good judgment if you encounter:
- Requests for tips framed as medical or financial emergencies
- Claims that a creator will be evicted, hospitalized, or harmed without immediate tips
- Pressure to tip outside the SpoonieFans Platform (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, crypto, etc.)
- Promises of cures, recoveries, or specific health outcomes in exchange for tips
- Requests that escalate in urgency, frequency, or amount over time
⚠️ Report suspicious behavior: These behaviors violate our Community Guidelines. If you see them, please report the creator to safety@spooniefans.com. Never feel pressured to tip — a real emergency is a matter for licensed crisis services, healthcare providers, or registered charities, not a content creator.
6. Tipping Outside the Platform Is Prohibited
For your protection and the protection of our community, all tips must be processed through the SpoonieFans Platform. Tipping a creator through external services (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, cryptocurrency, gift cards, bank transfers, etc.) is prohibited because:
- We cannot verify, protect, or refund off-platform transactions
- Off-platform tips bypass our safety, fraud, and identity verification systems
- You lose all consumer protections offered by SpoonieFans
- Creators violating this rule may be permanently removed from the Platform
7. Processing & Platform Fees on Tips
How Tips Are Processed: All tips are processed through Stripe and sent directly to creators, minus payment processing fees. The typical fee structure is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, though this may vary based on payment method and region. The exact fee structure is shown to you at the moment you send a tip, so there are no surprises.
Important:
- Tips are non-refundable except in cases of platform error, technical malfunction, or confirmed fraud
- Once processed, tips cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed based on changed mind or regret
- The remaining amount (after fees) is delivered to the creator according to our standard payout schedule (see Terms of Service, Section 7.3)
- Disputed or charged-back tips may result in account suspension while we investigate
8. No Dispute Resolution for Tips
SpoonieFans does not mediate tip disputes. Once a tip is processed and delivered to a creator, we cannot recover it, reverse the transaction, or adjudicate disputes between tippers and creators. This is because:
- Tips are voluntary, one-time gratuities with no contractual obligation
- There are no guarantees of creator response, acknowledgment, or special treatment
- Payment processing is final through our payment processor (Stripe)
- We cannot override payment processor decisions once funds have been transferred
If you experience a technical error or unauthorized transaction: Contact contact@spooniefans.com immediately with evidence, and we will investigate. Valid claims due to platform errors or fraud may be eligible for resolution.
9. Reporting Concerns
If you have concerns about tipping behavior — your own, a creator's, or another subscriber's — please reach out:
- Suspicious tip requests or pressure: safety@spooniefans.com
- Personal tipping support or budget concerns: community@spooniefans.com
- Refund requests or payment errors: contact@spooniefans.com
- Tax or legal questions about tips: please consult a licensed professional
10. Acknowledgement

Thank you for being part of a community that supports its creators thoughtfully and sustainably. 💚
